One layer card

Today on the Ai Blog Thursday's Challenge
is to make a one layer card....Here's mine:

This was totally out of my comfort zone because I usually use lots of layers.

First I stamped the image on a white card front and then again on scrap paper
which I cut out to make a mask.

 

then I had to think of something to do with all that intimidating empty white space.

I remembered seeing a Tutorial on Pinterest about rays...in their case it was sun rays...in this case let's just  assume  that one candle is putting out a heck of alot of light!...Anyhow if you would like to try this technique you can find it here:

instead of ink, I used chalks...no big suprise there

 

The rest of the card was colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with gamsol.

You can't see it in the picture, but I used Glossy Accents on the cake frosting...makes it look good enough to eat!.....and there is glitter in the candle  and I added some bling to the ladies outfits.
