Cardinals

I love thes beautiful birds!

Still working on Christmas Cards...Here's todays:

I made this Cardinal from the Stampin UP  bird punch.

Here's how:
Punch the bird & wing out of red, chalk around the edges with black.

Punch another bird and wing out of red
cut out a tail point , shade with chalk, glue onto original bird.
from the wing cut out the point and shade with chalk and add to head.

Punch a bird out of orange
cut out beak part and glue it onto the orginal bird

Punch another bird out of black....
with pencil  ( I only used white so you could see it better)
draw the cardinal black part ( lol...OK what would you call it?!)
and glue onto the original bird....don't forget to cut off the beak part first.

I added a tiny black bead for his eye

Glittered Poinsettia

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
The thing I like best is that the fridge is full of leftovers and
with that said....can Christmas be far behind?!!

This is the card I made while playing along
on Splitcoast Stampers Free For All Friday Challenge.
The Challenge was to add Glitter and glam it up!

Here's how I made the poinsettia:
The stamp I used is a really old one from Heartfelt Creations..

First Stamp the three sizes of poinsettia  on vellum...
the poinsettia on the card was stamped with white Stazon , then glittered
using the Quickie Glue Pen and superfine glitter.
The poinsettia in the tutorial was stamped using
an embossing pad and white embossing powder...eithe way works fine.

Then cut them apart like this:

Glitter them up and stack them using 3/16th adhesive foam dots...
I found mine at Michaels.

I added a rhinestone in the center...but, red beads would also look good!

Hummm....red beads....
OK I'm off to do one of these using red vellum, red glitter and red beads.

Till next time,
Doni

Christmas is comming.....

I have discovered that doing many many cards of the same design is not exactly what I enjoy...so this year instead of doing bunches of  cards of one design, I'm doing one each of lots of different Christmas cards. Here's some more of them.....

and

                                                            and then there's this one...

This little elf just might be my favorite!....so far!

Thanks for looking.

Till next time,

How many weeks?

This is the card I made this morning to play along with the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers.

Here's what inspired me:

OK....so how wack-a-do is that!

I pretty much just free hand copied (using prismacolor pencils)
this little guy's face onto a circle I punched out of white cardstock.

If you don't think you can do this...here's how:
first copy your inspiration site using Ctrl c
then open up a word program.
..I used office word( came on the computer)
next open a new page and then hit Ctrl v
and your inspiration piece will have been pasted on.
click on the edges
and you can make it whatever size you want
by dragging that little arrow out.
next...print it!
take this print....tape it to a window( in the daytime)
Put white cardstock over it and trace with a pencil, very lightly.
easy peasy!

Next came a larger circle punched out of blue...cut in half.
his antennae ( or whatever they are?)
are memory box  "Package Bows"...I just cut off the two ribbon ends.

The words were done on the computer....just pick a funky font!

I went looking in my Christmas paper stash
and found this paper that had both red and blue
...gota love using up those scraps!

Hope you enjoyed this silly card.
Now I'm off to send it to my friend who procrastinates as much as I do.

Till next time,
Doni

The cool b-hive paper is from Echo Park....sure am glad I had that in my stash!
I used the computer to generate the Happy B-day....the font I used is called "air conditioner".

Here's what the inside looks like:

Pink Sunset

For Thursdays challenge on Splitcoast Stampers, Michelle challenged us to NOT use fall colors.
A pretty pink winter sunset definately isn't fall colors!

This was fun to do and I like the way it turned out....ya never know when you start these things!

Here's what I did:
first start with a cardstock blank that is a little smaller than the card base you're going to put it on..
in my card that lets the black card show as a  black border around the scene.

next tear a scrap of cardstock ( think rolling hills not sharp peaks)...You'll use this as a mask.

My friend Nancy D. showed me how to make a cheap daubber out of nylon hose...works great!
(just roll one leg into a ball and fasten with a rubber band)
I used smokey grey ink then moved the mask down a tiny bit and did a little pink.

Now you're ready to do the sunset...use whatever colors you like...they don't have to be pinks..

Keep the mask in place and add trees... use grey and make the trees different heights.

Now you're ready to do the foreground... switch to black ink and reposition the mask
do the same steps as beforeto create another snowy knoll...then when you stamp the trees, on one of them stamp a piece of scrap paper first (so the black ink ins't so intense)

Almost done... add some super fine crystal glitter. with the glue pen scribble some horizontal lines and then sprinkle on the glitter... shake off the excess.

Now all that's left to do is mount onto the card blank and add the silhouette deers(they are a die from Memory Box )  I glued their feet down but use a tiny thin pop dot on their heads.

Thanks for looking.

Till next time,
Doni
