Christmas Ornament

It's Black Friday!
No Shopping....I thought crafting would be much more fun!
This morning on Splitcoaststampers the mixed media challenge
was to make a chipboard ornament.
You can check out Dina's cool video HERE
This is the ornament I made.
These are the supplies I used:

The challenge suggested  using the cardboard from cereal boxes, however
in my stash I found some white glossy one side  plain on the other side really thick cardstock.
Perfect for this, I only needed to cut two.
I used the new verve stamp set I just got called  "Unto Us".
and I used some dimensional embellishments from a company called Little B.
I love these little winter cardinals!
The bakers twine matched the Stampin' Up ink (cherry cobbler) I used to stamp the border image...
how lucky was that?!
These were so fun and easy, I think I'll have to do some more.
Thanks for stopping by.

Holiday House

Welcome to my November 2013 Papertrey Blog Hop post.
The theme is Holiday Houses. I went the gingerbread route.
Here's my creation:
This was so much's a close up of my hand drawn window ...
Love the icicles...They're a die from My Favorite Things.
Here's some of the supplies I used:
glitter...of course! The loop border is a die from The Cat's Pajamas.
The only candy canes I could find that were small enough were on designer paper.
I wanted to put little candies all around the door and window....couldn't find any....
so I made them from white cardstock and my trusty 'ole paper punch! A couple layers
of glossy accents took them from flat and dull to rounded and glossy.
I think I'll use some nylon thread and make a loop from the roof so I can
hang it on my Christmas tree this year.
Thanks to Papertrey for having such a fun challenge!
Oh, by the way, if you'd like to make a house of your own
you can find the pattern here:

Viva La Verve - Nov. sketch # 4

I'm playing along with the Viva La Verve Sketch Challenges.
This is the sketch for the fourth week in November:
And this is my card:
This cute tree stamp is one of those little " Snag  'em Stamps"
from Imaginise.
To tie a tiny bow is a real challenge.
Awhile back I saw this really cute wooden bow maker on
Pinterest and I showed it to my husband
and asked if he could make me one.
He did.... this is it:
I have to laugh every time I use it....the thing weighs a ton
and is made totally out of scraps!
I guess I should have mentioned cute and portable!
But hey, it works great!
Hope you're enjoying your Sunday.

Less is More

Since it's Saturday it's time for the Less is more Challenge.
This week it's to use a Bird.
I made a bunch of these cardinals from the Stampin' Up Bird Punch a while back.
So all I had to do today was use the Memory box corner snow die , add a few pine sprigs
punched from the Martha Stewarts punch and put the cardinal on top then stamp the greeting.
Yea! Another Christmas Card done!
Thanks for looking!

Viva La Verve Happy Turkey Day

This is my entry for the Viva La Verve Challenge- November week three.
We had a sketch and an inspiration photo to work with.
Sometimes a card comes together easy and other times it's a struggle.
Well, this one was a struggle ...Here's the sketch & inspiration photo:

And the inspiration photo:

On the other hand, the card I made for SplitCoastStampers '
Sunday Featured Stamper Challenge went together very easy!
Go figure!

Less is More

Saturday means it's time for a Less is More Challenge.
Today the challenge is to use designer paper.
Here's the card I made:
I used a couple of the trees from the paper smooches Warm Hearts stamp set.
There are four trees together on the stamp, but because I was going to paper piece
them by stamping on designer paper and then cutting them out there was no problem...
however... the little tree was in the front of the bigger tree
and I wanted them to be the other way around.
So , I put tape on the edge of the little tree that I didn't want to show....inked the stamp
removed the tape and then stamped on the plaid paper.
Then all I had to do was fill in the blank spot with a black marker.
Oh yea, a word to the wise... don't forget to remove the tape after you ink up the stamp!
Duh...first time I forgot !
To finish the card I stamped the trees again on the red candy cane stripe paper
so I could cut out the heart and paper piece it on the big tree.
Then added a strip of the candy cane stripe paper and stamped the sentiment above.
I use that teeny tiny wishes stamp set from Stampin'Up all the time.
It needed some shine , so I put Glossy Accents on the heart.
It took longer to tell you about it than it did to make it!
Thanks for stopping by.

Dragons love to Party!

On SplitCoastStampers today the Free For all Challenge is to take
a break from making Christmas cards and make a Birthday card.
I had downloaded this cute digi stamp from Whimsy Stamps and was
trying to color it like Chrissy Armstrong ...the artist who drew it...
did on her card HERE. so , having an image colored and ready to go was a plus!
Funny that it just happened to use the Christmas colors red and green.
I printed another copy , just colored the balloons and cut them out to use on the inside.
I drew the strings on with a black micron pen.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Mojo Monday - Happy Birthday

This uses the Mojo Monday 319 sketch.
It's a pretty straight forward , nice and flat, easy to mail card.
However, the other two cards I did today are not so flat!....
This one is for the Viva La Verve Sketch challenge for November:

And the Gold & Silver Christmas Wreath  was made for today's CAS challenge on SplitcostStampers
Thanks for stopping by today.
Before I go, I have one more
picture to share with you.
...........I wondered why my craft room was getting chilly.....
Hey, at least the cat  is warm!  :)

A cup of cozy wishes

This is the card I made for the Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge Blog.
This week the challenge is to create a card with a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp that feels warm and cozy!!!
This cup of cozy wishes that this cute snowman is holding reminds me of the fantastic hot chocolate we make in the crock pot  for our scrapbooking weekend in January.
Hot chocolate, French Vanilla liqueur and Butterscotch schnapps! YUM! Now that is warm and cozy!
Thanks for stopping by.

White Christmas Branches

For today's Inspiration Challenge we looked at a pinterest board called Christmas Ideas by Laurel Seabrook.
Here's the pin that inspired this card:

I'm happy with the way this card turned out....but believe me photographing it was a nightmare!
You can't see the soft shimmer of the background cardstock or the crystal glitter on the pine branches which make this look so much better in real life. :)

I use white corrugated paper for the vase, a really great branch die from Memory Box and the McGill punch called designer pine......also  found out this will only punch through thin paper!!!!
Thanks for looking!

Cat in Christmas Box

Check out this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog.....
You can find it here:
The challenge is to make it clean and simple, which if I'm not following a sketch is my favorite way of making a card.
I paper pieced this cute little cat....he's a stamp from
Simon Says Stamp....and anchored him on a striped paper banner.
then to finish the card I used a paper smooches sentiment.
Easy peasy.....gota love it!

snazzy golfer

and the inside:
I know I should be making Christmas cards....
but, this golfer guy from Art Impressions was
calling out to me today! :)
In addition to the ai -Gordon golfer set stamp, I used
Nestibilities-reverse wonky rectangles die,
Darice embossing folder, and cute little cloud dies from impression obsessions.
I colored him with copic markers , paperpieced his pants and fussy cut him out.
I posted this card on my SplitCoastStamper Gallery.
I was in a hurry and forgot to add shadows he looks like he's flying!
Just a little bit of neutral grey really makes a difference, I used Copic N0 and Copic N2
around his left side and under his feet to ground him.
Thanks for looking!

Less is More

This is my second post for today.
I know there is a million and one things I should be doing around the house,
however...playing in my craft room has way more appeal!
The Less is More blog challenges us to use a dark background with a splash of color.
Here's what I came up with:

Kraftin' Kimmie and Verve

Hi! Hope you're having a good Saturday.
I had fun this morning making a Christmas Card  (yea! one more done!)
that works for two challenges.
To start I used the verve sketch and turned it on its side. Here's the original sketch:
Then, the Saturday challenge on the Kraftin' Kimmie Saturday Challenge Blog is to
Pick a Holiday and use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp.
I love this elf tangled up in  Christmas lights....used him last year to make all my Christmas Cards!
Good thing I love to color with my copics.... this image takes awhile to do.
You can't tell from the picture, but the little gold lights have a glitter -glow to them because I colored them with gold Smooch....Love that stuff!
Thanks for stopping by today.
