Mixed Media

On Splitcoaststampers the Mix-ability challenge
is to incorporate printed text, such as an old book page or even newsprint,
into your mixed media project.
So, OK... I thought I'd give this a try. Here's the first card I came up with:

After looking at it, I'm not sure it qualifies as multi media.
I used dylusions fresh lime ink spray, Copics to color the image
and Vintage distress ink to do some sponging.
However, although I used three things they are all inks.
So, I got out some more supplies :

and gave it another try:
I used molding paste ,the same green spray, teal ink and some turquoise chalk.
So, hopefully that's more like different mediums.
But I didn't much care for the I gave it a third try:
Well, I had fun playing this morning...totally trashed my craft room desk...!
I think I'll stick to clean and simple!

Viva La Verve

This is March's week two sketch from Viva La Verve.
Here's the card I made:
I used the Isabella 6x6 pad from BoBunny.
Using the rolled roses die from My Favorite Things seemed like a no brainer
because of the roses in the top and bottom strips of paper.
For the leaves I used a die from W plus 9 called folk art florals.
they faded too much into the background when then were just solid grey,
so I used a black marker to do some line work on them.
The circle was cut from a Nestie and the black edging
is a MFT Die-namics called open scallop doily.
The beautiful Bible verse is a stamp from Verve.

On the Viva La Verve Sketch Challenge Blog,
this is the sketch for the 1st week in March.
There was also a color combination option which I totally forgot about.
I'm glad it was just an option!
Here's my very literal take on the sketch:

Spring Flowers

This week, on  Less is More  the subject of your
One Layer Card
should be
Spring Flowers
this is the card I made:
I used a digi stamp( sorry, I don't remember where I got it)
 and colored it with copics.
To keep the printer ink  from bleeding into the copic colors,
I use my heat gun to heat set the image as it comes out of the printer.
Here's the Copics I used:
Basket.....E55, E35 and Y00
leaves....YG03,YG07, YG17, YG63
Tulips...RV00, RV13, RV55
and N2 for extra shading
I sponged Distress Ink- Vintage Photo under the basket
and added a little sparkle with the atyou Spica pen.
The sentiment is from Hero Arts-with sympathy set.
Thanks for stopping by today.

I'm ignoring the sub-zero temperatures and thinking ahead to Easter!
This bunny makes my whole face smile!

This card is pretty self explanatory,

CAS Challenge

I'm so excited to be on the Splitcoaststampers CAS Challenge
design team for spring of 2014.
Here's the card I made for today's challenge:
The challenge was to use only neutral colors on your card.
The dessert option was to use a natural element.
This was the inspiration picture to go along with this challenge:
feathered tones 10.3.13
I started by using a wood grain embossing folder ( sizzix) and the lightly sponging
Rangers Distress Ink (vintage photo)  over it.
Next I cut a strip from it and matted it on dark brown cardstock.
I stamped the sentiment ( Reverse Confetti Stamps- paper crane) in same
vintage photo distress ink.
Then I used a little circle of cork to anchor the feather...which, by the way,
I stole from the cat's toy
that hangs from the cat tree!
I figure that which does not run away from me is fair game!
I hope you have enjoyed this post.
