Christmas in July

Hi! I hope your week is off to a good start.

I'd like to share with you the card I made for the Christmas Challenge

This is their first Christmas Challenge
and as you can see, the code word is TREE,
so here's what I came up with:

I used these supplies
I cut the tree die out of green cardstock and the stuck them down on
the front of a white card base.....didn't like it ...so I cut out around the tree shape.
The edges looked strange being white so I ran around the side edges
with a green marker...much better. But I still didn't feel it looked finished,
so I added a tree silhouette (just traced the die shape ) out of darker green cardstock
and added it underneath.
Now I liked it...almost!
It just looked blah...so I added bling!
You'd laugh if you knew how old these beads were...but hey.
we have to use our stash once and awhile...right?

I  used Glossy Accents  on the green parts of the tree to adhere the beads.
The first couple of sections ( I started at the top) were really easy and I found
myself lining up the beads in rows...not a great idea!
By the time I got to the bottom section , I was wishing that I had just dumped
the beads and let them stay where they landed!
All that was left was to stamp the greeting and this card was done!
Thanks for Looking.

'till next time,
Doni

  2. This is adorable Doni. Love how you have created a shadow for your tree. Lining up all those beads must have taken ages, but it looks so fantastic! Thanks for playing along at Happy Little Stampers. xx

  3. Hi Doni! Love this tree (and thanks for joining in the 1st HLS Christmas Challenge!) I have a similar tree to this one, and found it not so easy to use. I LOVE what you've done, and enjoyed reading your post about the construction of this pretty tree. Love the way the solid green shadows the die, and putting the beads on the tree, certainly added an enormous amount of dimension (and glitz as well). It's a delightful card. TFS (and I'm not sure if I just became your newest follower, or if I was following and Blogger just didn't show me!) Hugs
