When I hear the word plaid, I think of school uniforms.
Lots of years working at Magic City Lettering
where we lettered Varsity jackets and sold school uniforms! lol!

Now, there are lots of pretty plaid printed papers so I was excited
when I saw that Anja chose  Plaid as the code word for challenge #87

Here's the card I created:
card recipe:
white card base
plaid paper from doodlebug
white cardstock
Memory Box stitched rectangle layers-die
Simon Says Stamp stitched circles die
craft foam sheet
mini crazy birds stamps from Stampers Anonymous
mini crazy bird things from Stampers Anonymous
Happy Birthday from Happy Little Stampers set called mix mash
Copic Markers

I hope you can play along with this great challenge.

goofy dragon

This week at Less is More
the challenge is to include Saints, Dragons or Heroes on your card.

My very favorite Dragon is named "Clueless" and he was created by
Susana's custom art and card design.

I paired him with a cute sentiment from Funny Bones
by Riley & Company.
He's colored with Copic markers. I masked him off and did a little
background sponging with salty ocean distress ink by Ranger.

I hope he made you smile!

feel better birdbrain

Hi! Happy Monday!
Monday means a new sketch challenge at From The Heart Stamps.
Card Sketch 149
Here's my card...No twist this time and I switched the image left to right :
I used a new birdbrain image. You can find him HERE.

Thanks for stopping by.

This is the card I made using Faith's new image
which is April's Stamp of the Month.
Check it out HERE.
Be sure and follow the link to the rules...
where you see that you can get a free digi stamp every month!
When I first saw this image I thought of this really cool designer paper
from BoBunny with clock faces.
So, since the paper is neutral tones, that's how I colored the image
and just for something different, I used my long neglected Prismacolor pencils.

To finish it I added tiny sequins ( from Simon Says Stamp),
used glossy accents on the clock and even though you can't tell on the picture,
I used  Wink of Stella (clear) on the largest flower.

I hope you can play along.

Pop of Color

Today I made a card to play along with The April Challenge
to use black & white with a pop of color

I used the Paper Smooches stamp "Healthy Vibes"
You can find it HERE.
It's hard to tell from the picture but the black panel
is popped up on craft foam so the circle with
the germ is recessed.
This was the second card I made this morning.
I had black & white with a pop of color on my mind,
so when I made the  first card I forgot to use a Paper Smooches stamp . Duh!
This stamp is from Impression Obsession - Zentangles.
Thanks for stopping by.

I hope you take some time to have fun today!

Cardinal and Winterberry

Happy Monday!
Time for FROM THE HEART STAMPS sketch challenge #148.
Card Sketch 148
This is my take on the sketch:

For this challenge I used both the sketch and the twist.
I alternated black plaid washi tape and narrow red dot washi tape
on white cardstock , cut a strip of it  and placed it behind the focal image
which I changed from the square shape to one I liked better.
(...and I have no idea what to call it! lol)

The shape is a die from Papertrey Ink.
The sentiment is from Verve -Joyful Blooms.
Colored with copics : R14, R29, R39, C0, C3, C4.

You can find the Cardinal and Winterberry  image HERE.

Emboss resist

Scroll down if you're looking for the FTHS sketch Challenge card.
I just got the  stamp set Spring Flowers  from Simon says Stamp,
so I've been playing with the emboss resist technique with all theses pretty flowers.
So, first one up ...
I embossed the flower and sentiment with VersaMark (watermark stamp pad)
sprinkled with gold embossing powder and hit it with the heat gun.
Then I used a brush and clear water to wet the entire surface
so that  I could color with watercolors using the wet on wet technique.
Love how the embossed lines stop the color!

and since I still had all this mess  covering my entire desktop ( neat I'm not!),
I made this second card using the same emboss resist watercolor technique,
only this time I fussy cut the flowers.
Next I stamped the design arrangement using
Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink on black cardstock
then added the colored flowers on top....added a few doodlebug sprinkles .
Cut to a smaller size and the matted with black & white polka dot paper
and then popped the whole thing up using black craft foam onto a black card base.
Here's how it ended up:

Hope you like them!

'till next time,

Birthday Candle Birdbrain

Happy Monday!

Monday means it's time
for another sketch  Challenge from From The Heart Stamps.
Here's my card using both the sketch and the twist ( use lots of patterned  paper):
I used the Birthday Candle Birdbrain ...
you can get him HERE.

I started out by printing the Birdbrain on the orange background paper.
That way his feet  and the candle wick would not have to be fussy-cut.
Next I printed him on white cardstock and colored him with copic markers,
then did the fussy cutting. (when your done cutting run a black brush marker around the really makes a big difference!)
Then I adhered him to the image printed already printed on the orange paper
...that made positioning him really easy.

Here's what I did on the inside:
Gota love it!
Hope you can find time to join in this week's challenge.

Jack's Birthday

My youngest grandchild, Jack , will be eleven years old on Wednesday.
Wow...where does the time go!
Today I made his birthday card and I used the challenge
at Simon Says Stamps to give me some direction.
Here's what I came up with:
Here's the stuff I used:

The paper is from doodlebug ...called cake & ice cream . It's from 2011.
I guess it pays to never throw anything away, because I love the way
the little images fit inside the circles.
The die was a little large to fit with the "you" so I trimmed off a circle or two.
I think Jack will like it....mostly 'cause there's gona be money inside! lol!
Thanks for stopping by.
