Swirly Birthday

I came across this monthly inspirational challenge based
on a Pinterest-inspired photo that is located

A random challenge participant will receive a
 $50 gift certificate
to the Ellen Hutson store.
To be eligible for a shot at the prize,
you MUST use Essentials by Ellen products
and the photo badge as inspiration.
and here's the inspiration board:
I loved the colors and for some reason it all registered as swirls of color.

So here's what I came up with:
I hand cut a swirl design stencil from acrylic
and then used distress inks in all the pretty colors to sponge in the swirls.

I used the Essentials by Ellen stamp set called All Inside by Julie.
  Colored the bear with Copics
(E50,E53, E55, R20)
Tucked in a party hat...I just love the way he can hold things!

The cute speech bubble is from Lawn Fawn-chit chat

Blue Foot

I just got the cutest new stamp from Impression Obsession.
This is the Blue Footed Boobie Bird and yes, there is an actual bird named that!

I'm entering this in a joint challenge between

Man, these girls really know how to torture a person!
One layer  with a colored cardbase!
Totally not in my comfort zone!

So, little Miss Boobie Bird is stamped on a Kraft Cardbase
and colored with Prisma Color Pencils.
The Yippee! came from a stamp set
called Monsters Ink by Technique Tuesday.
I'm making this card for a friend who is taking the three day
Bar Exam. I figure she'll feel like this when she's done!

Wednesday Challenge

Hi there!
This is the card I made for the
The challenge this week is to use plaid and
they are are showcasing Lawn Fawn Products.

Earlier this week I spent a rainy afternoon coloring a bunch of images
 from Lawn Fawn
while binge watching Face Off on Hulu.

And I had just watched this really great video by Nichol Spohr
on You Tube on how to make a shaker card
( you can watch it HERE.)
So, that's how my card came to be.

Hi !
Time for a new code word from Addicted To Clean and Simple.
Ceal is our hostess for this challenge and she has chosen the code word:
I have to admit, I'm a stay in the air conditioning kinda girl...
but I do love birdbrain and so I made a card using this cute digi stamp
of him floating in his cute inner tube totally enjoying his summer.

I colored him with copics and then added the water with watercolors
using only as much water as I had to because I did not use watercolor weight paper.

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Kylie!

And welcome to my little part of this special blog hop.
Here's the card I made to help celebrate this day:
I used the Happy Little Stampers stamp set Butterfly Birthday.
(find it HERE )

I stamped with Memento tuxedo black ink,
colored the butterfly with copic neon colors (FYG2,FRV1,FY1).
Then I used Wink of Stella and when that was dry, a thick coat of Glossy Accents.
Here's a closer look:
That butterfly really shines and glitters!

I hope everyone is enjoying this blog hop.
Next stop is Jaydee's Blog and you can find it HERE.

Time for a new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

I was looking through  my Pinterest Boards for some inspiration
and I saw a card with a black butterfly and hot pink and vivid orange
That I liked, so I went with those colors.

Here's what I ended up with:

 here's the sketch:
As you can see I made a horizontal card because
I wanted to use the "happy looks good on you" and it wouldn't fit on a vertical card!

And because , even when I try, I can't make 2 cards exactly alike
there's these:

I kinda like the one on the right best.
I had cut a strip of orange from the bottom front of the card
because I wanted to stamp the sentiment on it for the pink card and I was
too lazy to go get a scrap of orange.
Strange how creativity leads you sometimes.
The stamp set I used for these cards is
called Choose Happy from Simon Says Stamp.
