Handmade stencil

I was looking for something ( I can't remember what )
in a drawer in my craft room when I came across a
piece of cardstock that I had used as a mask when
I made this card way back in 2012.
This is what I'm talking about:
to make the hills
and to make the sky
and to stamp the trees
By the time I made a bunch of these cards my mask was pretty grungy .
I have no idea why I saved it but I'm glad I did!

Here's the card I made from that old mask:

All I had to do was trim it down, add a tiny black mat showing only on the cut edges
add a die cut sentiment (Avery Elle) and slap it on a matching card base.

This was fun...and super easy! lol

Birthday Bowler

I've been in the house all morning.
When I stepped outside to go to lunch it was like walking into a sauna!  Whew!

I love air conditioning!

Here's a card for today:
I'm playing along with CASology.

Bowling is a sport...right?

Here's a closer look at how I popped up the focal panel:

I got this AI stamp at Michaels.

Time for a new code word from Addicted To Clean and Simple.
Bobby is our hostess and she chose the code word BERRIES.

I first thought of strawberries, but that's all the further my mojo
took me on that idea!
So I searched berry clip art and found this:
I liked the idea of the berry branches in a vase.

This is what I ended up with:

Here's what I used:
Stampscapes - leafy branch 277F
Technique Tuesday - Berries-Greenhouse ( 2013)
Copic Markers - C0, C1, C2, R29
Cuttlebug Embossing folder - oxford
My Favorite Things - Die-namics (vase)

What does the word "Berries" make you think of?

In the sky

Today's card was inspired by the challenge over at
The challenge is to use a printed page as a background
Here's what I came up with:

It's funny the way creativity works. I had no ideas so I looked through my pinterest
boards for something to spark my interest. I came across this card by Cindy Elam:
I liked the stenciled clouds so that's where that came from.
...and whats a sky without some birds, so I stamped some (Inkadinkado- coastal).
Then I thought of the bunny in the hot air balloon, a stamp from
The Cat's Pajamas (2011) , so I stamped it on white cardstock
colored it with copic markers and fussy cut it out.
I don't know if you can tell it or not, but I had to stamp the center section on a scrap of the background word paper and paperpiece it so that the words would be behind the bunny
and not just the white paper.
To finish it off, I used die cut letters to spell hello (memory box- abc soup die).

Thanks for looking.

Today I'm playing along with two challenges:

Here's my card:

At Paper Players it's a color challenge
I'm pretty sure all those shades are in there!

Over at the  CAS Watercolor the challenge is sunflowers.

This little Sunflower Girl is a Pure Innocence stamp from My Favorite Things.
This is one of the first stamps I bought (2009) and
she holds a special place in my heart.
It was fun to get her inky again!

 Thanks for looking!

Hope you're enjoying this very relaxing summer Sunday!

I've been
 thinking about my oldest Granddaughter
who will be starting a new life adventure this week
and also thinking about my friends blog challenge (Double D Challenges).

Strange as it may seem they came together in the form of this card:

The challenge theme is " Don't bug me!"
and here's the mood board they gave us for inspiration:
I of course zeroed in on the dragonfly.

Here's what I used:
The Rubber Cafe - Small Paisley Dragonfly
Simon Says Stamp - Stitched Circles Die
softly water colored  background ( Distress inks) from my stash
my computer - sentiment I found after Googling dragonfly thoughts

Now all I have to do is wait for my granddaughter's new address so I can send it to her!

Thanks for looking.

Time for a new code word from Addicted To Clean and Simple.
Ellenor is our hostess and she chose the code word MASCULINE.
Here's my card:
I started off by cutting a square out of a basic white card front panel
using MFT Die-namics (Blueprints # 13) to cut the panel
and Avery Elle Elle-ments Die (inside out stitched squares) to die cut the opening.

Then I used distress inks to lightly sponge a background on the card front:
The really cute stamp set I used is from PoppyStamps
#CL430 called No Truffle at All.

Dragon Affairs

I want to share a card that I made today.
I started out by using hand made backgrounds that I'd been
making using some Distress Oxide Inks. ( wilted violet, lucky clover and broken china)

I was playing around with some Distress micro glaze from Tim Holtz.
It's supposed to bring a bright finish to the soft colors of the oxide inks.
However I missed the little point of needing to start with glossy (photo) paper.
I was using watercolor paper...well duh!... no wonder my background still looked soft and muted!

It still made a great background for this sweet Dragon from My Favorite Things.

I googled "dragon sayings" and found this, and it really touched my funny bone!

Here's the inside:

Hope it made you smile!

I love Christmas!

I'm welcoming in a new month (August---already!)
and a brand new monthly challenge blog called

Here's my very first entry into this fun challenge:

Yep! You know by now that I love box cards, so it seemed only fitting that I start out with one!

I made the basic box using Green cardstock and the Lawn Fawn scalloped box card die.
I used a pretty Christmas paper by BoBunny called Mistletoe
to decorated the sides and flaps of my box.
The Merry Christmas sentiment flap was made using a stamp and cut set from Hero Arts (Merry).

Next on to the fun part of choosing what cute things to put in the box!
I chose to use the Santa and reindeer from There She Goes- design by Torico.
I'm sad to say that the There She Goes website closed at the end of 2013,
so this stamp is no longer available. However, it will always remain one of my favorites!

The cute trees I used are from Sugar Pea Designs- It Moose be Christmas.
I used Copic Markers to color everything:
Reindeer  :  E31, E33, E37
                                                            Reindeer Nose:   E27, E25
                                                            Trees:  YG25, G28
                                                            Tree trunks:  E23, E25
                                                            Santa face:  E00, E11, R20
                                                            Santa suit: R14, R29, R89
                                                            Belt buckle: YR24

Hopefully by playing along with this blog every month, I'll get a good start on my
Christmas cards for next year! Anyway, that's the plan!

'till next time,
