Diamonds

It's time for a new challenge at Addicted to CAS
and our host Ceal has chosen diamonds as her code word.

Our Sponsor is Happy Little Stampers and as always,
Kylie is offering the winner a generous $20. GC to the store!

Sometimes CAS is not simple!...to do that is!
I kept thinking diamonds as sparkly gems and I had no stamps or dies
that even came close to that.
So, I was excited when my wayward brain finally thought of the diamond shape.
The rest should be easy, right? Wrong!
I played with different sizes, different layouts, different colors , different techniques,
Whew, my desk and my mojo was a mess.
I gave up, cleaned off my desk and went to lunch.
Chocolate was involved.

When I came back this card went together rather quickly ...must have been the chocolate!

I did try adding some bling, but I didn't like it. what do you think?

Here's what I used:
Spellbinders Nestabilities - classic diamonds
Memory Box - stitched rectangle layers
Distress Oxide Ink - spiced marmalade, picked raspberry, fossilized amber
Paper Smooches - sentiment sampler

Thanks for looking.

'till next time,
Doni

  1. Thanks for sharing your story about creating this fabulous card, Doni! I love your color palette with the black border and personally, I prefer your design without bling...honestly though, both versions are beautiful!
PS: There's nothing like a little chocolate to get your mojo going :)

  2. This is a fabulous design, Doni. Those frustrating times are often fixed with a break, and it seems that the chocolate is your secret weapon because this one turned out great. The black card base makes your color choices pop. I too prefer the design without the bling, but both look great. I leasrned from a wonderful crafty friend that when you think you should add one more thing to a CAS design, sit on your hands!!

  3. Please don't tell me chocolate gets the mojo flowing, Doni. ;) I'm trying to cut down but if it works for you more power to it. The overlapping shapes look great in color and size and I prefer them without the bling.
